Every year, Faith Community Outreach strives to provide meals to those in dire need throughout Canada by offering dry ration food packages as well as cooked meals, vouchers, gift cards and family support.
Dry ration
Packages are given to poor families as well as survivors of disasters. Though the nature of food supplies vary based on the regions of distribution, a typical, dry ration package consists of flour, rice, lentils, dates, dry milk powder, sugar, tea, spices, oil, and soap. Each package is enough to feed a family of about 5 or 6 for a month.
Cooked meal
Cooked meals are distributed at shelters in the Greater Toronto Area that have identified new refugee immigrants of African or Caribbean ethnic backgrounds who are in need of these ethnic foods and have no means of getting them.
Cooked meals are also distributed to the poor elderly in the community to ensure that their dietary needs are met.
Food Vouchers
Food vouchers are provided to people in crisis, this enables them to purchase food from grocery stores as per individual need.
Additional Support
Our food bank network helps people break free from poverty by providing additional support to help people resolve the crises they’re facing so that they don’t need to use a food bank again in the future. Contact us for additional information on our food bank projects.
